tilt wheel
wanted to know wat year til colum will fit in my truck with little or no fab work its an1968 gmclwb 396 450hp turbo 400 stage 2 shift kit soon will have pics will be orange on bottom and black on top thanks for the help ive been reading posts for about 1year and it helped alot . also i have an 1985 truck will that colum fit thanks for the help

Welcome to the board from Wisconsin!
A tilt wheel from a 69-72 truck will be a direct replacement (plug and play). Any tilt from a truck newer than 1972 will have the ignition key in the column, and have you running wild to convert wiring, etc. A van tilt is a popular conversion, but it will require cutting the output shaft and doing other types of custom engineering. 69-72 truck tilts will fit any 67-72 trucks. The automatic tilts run $200+, and manual shift tilts run $300+. Converted van tilts run $100+ Last edited by dtlilly; 06-11-2005 at 02:08 AM. |

Would be alot easier if you found a Van tilt. I just installed mine without any cutting in my 70GMC. The one I used came from a 78 Chevy Van, with key in the dash. Only 2 mods you have to do. One is collapse the outer steering arm, that's the one connected to the steering box, and relocate the neutral safety switch. I bought a "Lokar" switch that mounts on my transmission pan.
