New addition to family!

We're welcoming a '71 GMC burb to our Bowtie family. She's a fairly rare girl (I think) as it is a 3/4 ton 4x4, factory tilt, tach, roof air, tailgate rear door, and front buckets. Of course, it needs some work, but it runs and spent most of its life in AZ. The rear quarter on passenger side is totally gone. I see the condensate drain line from roof AC is there also. Is there something from the AC that could've caused that? How would I prevent from happening again? I also need all the rubber seals. Who has the good pricing on this stuff? I also need seats for it. What are good late model replacements for all 3 seats? I'll put some pics up once I get them

Congrats on a great find. Among burbs, it's very difficult to find a 4x4 with tilt, tack, A/C including roof air, and in the 3/4 ton version. I wish I could find one in good shape. Might save me a lot of work swapping bodies.

The roof air unit's drain hose should have exited the body inboard of the backing plate to the rear quarter panel, not inside the rear fender/qtr panel. So, it's doubtful that the qtr panel rusted out from the A/C condensation. Unless someone rerouted the drain hose to drip inside the fender where the taillight pocket is.

Of which rubber seals do you mean?

Please post some pics. Are you going to sell the factory buckets? I might be interested.

Pics once I figure them out

I tried to post some pics, but I need to read up on doing it. They were to big.

Long Roof- Yes, I'll be selling the buckets, console, and the upper & lower trim packages.

Sublvr72-Did you have to modify those seats to fit?

Anybody removed the factory roof AC panels before? Things are pretty brittle already and I don't want to break things.

suburban

Hey brf,
The roof panels are as you say very brittle, The problem you will most likely encounter will be with the "bows" that hold them up. Just be patient, and take your time when removing them. Congrats on a lucky find. I sent you a pm,
Pelone

bfr57 - Keep me in mind when you get to removing and come up with the price on the buckets. Could you please post some pics of the seats?

I would be interested in what factory buckets look like for a 68 burb if anyone has pix let me know. I am assuming the 71 would be exactly the same as a Blazer with hard backs and console.~!

Pics of the "Family"

Well, let's see if I can figure this out. Here are some pics of our "family." The 71 PU is a 4x4, with some good options and a 700R4 I installed. The 57 is a 2dr hardtop.
