Question about grill and a couple other things

My grill is riveted in as far as I can tell. Should I just drill out the rivets or what would you guys recommend?

I don't have the money to do anything major right now so I thought I would start with what I can do and start taking the truck apart and doing all the sanding and minor bodywork. I figured all I need is sandpaper and some energy to get this part done. I know that I need to mark all the bolts/parts that I take off of my truck but are there any tips for me because this is the most extensive deconstruction that I've done past removing an inner fenderwell (damn heater cores).

Also would you guys recommend buying a body bolt kit and if you do what kit would you recommend and from where?

You guys have put a fire under my butt to get started back on my truck and I thank all of you for that.

Unless you are going to work on the mounting brackets removing the rivets is not how the grill is removed, usually. The grill assembly is removed by taking the four bolts out on each end and removing the center bracket screws. Of course the bumper has to be taken off before it will come out.

The plastic grill is attached with small screws but I think there may be some rivets used for brackets on your year. I know my 69 had some near the hood bumpers and a few on the front.

To replace those, I recommed the threaded type replacement rivet. I got mine from Lutty's Chevy parts. http://www.luttyschevy.com/pages/home.html

From the top, they look just like a stock rivet but they have a threaded shaft and a small nut. These things are GREAT!

Easy to remove for later repairs too. Anyone that has tried to "hammer" in the stock style rivet will surely appreciate these.
