May need a dually!
We are just about to buy a 33' fifth wheel travel trailer. Reason being is we just sold our house and are remodeling another, so we bought the TT to park in the front yard of the house we are remodeling, anyway the place we are buying from will bring it to our location and set it up, but what will I do after it needs to be moved? All I have is my 1/2 ton shortie and a 99 Burb. I am thinking of either selling my truck and buying a dually or either trading. My problem is I can't afford new and really don't want a car payment. And the 73-87 CC duallys are hard to find at a low price. Find them but they are snatched up quick! Could you guys be on the lookout for me one, preferably in the southeast? Thanks
Gary

Look for a 1 ton Crew Cab Dually with a 454 and TH400.
A well tune truck like this will pull that 33 footer like it wasn't there. The dually option is more stable. More width. I pull a 40 foot Chapparal race car hauler. '86 1 ton CCDually with a 454 and TH400, 4:10 rear. It pulls so well, that sometimes I forget that I am towing!! You won't regret it. I have kinda been looking around for the same thing but for me it would have to be a dually......those things just dont look right without the dually fenders lol.
Anyway heres one I found in Houston that might be of interest to you. Looks to be a decent buy but does have a few minor glitches. They claim it dyno'ed 525 hp at flywheel when built and 675 lb/ft torque. Sounds like it should do the job http://dfwstangs.net/forums/showthread.php?t=250078 Brad

That looks like a good deal.
If the engine is tight, it would do real nice! Late 80's GM trucks had a paint flaking problem, it was covered under factory warranty. But it didn't show up until the warranty period had expired. Most customer were SOL. Just my .02 CCDually Last edited by GMC1tondually4dr; 06-16-2005 at 07:02 PM. |

My dad has a completly rust free 79 cc dually. With 454 and th400. We recently bought it out of california and drove it home. The paint is really faded but interior is like new. Runs great. has 69,xxx miles on it. Still has teh build sheet and other documentation in the glove compartment. He said he would sell it but he would have to have 5500 out of it....OUCH.
