Abandoned or For Sale 71 C10

Last night just a few blocks from my house I came across a 1971 C10 in rough shape. The shoe polish writing on the windows said Must Sell $1000. I stopped, got the telephone number and gave it a look see. Thinking this might be agreat donor for a C20 to C10 project. This truck has tilt, pb, ps, ac, late model 350, two battery trays, split front seat where the backs pull forward, doors shut well, tailgate is reasonably clean, 17" aluminum wheels, 12 bolt, slidiing rear window, and a bed full of parts / shovel / etc. I have called the number many times with no answer. Today one of the front tires was flat and the tele # was removed. The truck has not been registered since July 2003. The City is not being very helpful and I can't talk to anyone at the DMV. Anyone in CA have any experience with how to buy an abandoned vehicle?

When you lein sale any vehicle, be sure that once you take possession of it, that you run the VIN for any violations, tickets, etc etc....Make sure that you dont get caught up into someone else's nightmare! (Divorce, Legal bound VIN hold, etc)
Ive been through it before; got caught in a unpaid debt against the title(Dept of Corporations), and divorce settings!
Both of these I suggest to you to stay out of trying to register it!
If you want it for parts, or to sell as parts, do it at a swap meet with the parts you can, dont advertise it.
And lastly, dont cut it up unless you know for sure you can legally scrap it without a dismantling license to do so...
Just a few thoughts to keep you out of trouble!
