Webmaster, Fix the damn scrollbar!!

I posted this brefore, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to see the right scrollbar. You have the tools to change this,we can't. It is really getting irritating, especially when wanting to grab it to move back up the screen.

Though I just use the scroll wheel on my mouse, anyway.

Guys, it's your browser's fault. The administrator can't change everyone's browser. You'll have to do that.

Figure out what browser you have, and see if you can change the "look and feel" of your windowing environment to change the buttons, menus, desktop, and scroll bars, unless your browser version will allow you to do custom window themes (Netscape 6 allows you to pick and/or load themes that change the way the browser windows look).

It's what's called your native windowing environment that's causing the problem. Windows sometimes uses default themes that are hard to use. Linux (what I'm using) is the same way. You just have to spend some time to change it. The server Josh is using can't do anything to change that.

My scrollbar is my Windows color on every page except this board. On here, it's black and gray. Even in the window that I'm typing this reply in.

I thought that sounded a little harsh also, I'm just glad I have the board. I never look at the scrol bar anyway, I love having one of those wheel things on my new mouse.

Actually, new69owner, it is something Josh can do. Yes, you can override settings, but it transferres to everything. The colors we are complaining about are set specifically on Josh's server.

I'm having the same problem with this site only, but I frequent several other sites that use this same exact message board and I don't get the scroll bar problem.... so it's clear to me that there are tweakable settings on the server side to address this issue....

Hey webmaster, how about some input...????

No problems here. If that's the only problem with this free board, get a tissue and get over it. Some people! You can also use your up/down arrows.

Thumbs up Quit Whining

The site is absolutely great. Scroll bar works fine and the grey & white background colors are easy on the eyes. I love the search function. We need to take a deep breath and think how our posts look to the readers. I'm sure most don't intend the strong emotion that comes across when it is not actually there.

This thread reminds me of the comic strip "Zits", where the teenager is enraged because the free joke site he reads hasn't been updated.

No complaints here. I think this is an excellent site. The only thing I would like to see different is the number of posts required to have an Avatar. I guess I'll have to up my number of posts...

ckhd: Terry asked that the scroll bars be changed. Not the rendered body, table, and cell colors. Since some people don't distinquish between the two problems I addressed Terry's issue directly. Yes, the rendered colors can be changed to a new scheme so that it's easier to see the washed-out gray Microsoft Windows motif, but why doesn't everyone get off their butt and configure their own browsers, desktops, and monitors? Every time Josh picks a color scheme someone will have something to say about it.

What has Josh said about changing the color schemes anyway? If Josh needs help I can certainly lend a hand...but you can't make EVERYONE happy. The best way for everyone to be satisfied is to take care of their own desktop environments individually.
