I just bought a Grant 440 wheel and according to the box I need a 3163 installation kit. On the box it says up to 1969 uses a 3162 kit. My column is a stick column. I have no idea if it's original or not. I thought all the stick columns for our trucks were the same. I haven't installed it yet so if anybody has this setup and could shed some light on this, I would appreciate it. Thanks

I have a Grant GT steering wheel in mine and it's a 3 speed manual column. I used the 3162 kit and it worked great. Took about 1 hour from start to finish.

I used a 3163 for mine. 71 auto column. I work for O'reilly's part time in the evenings (to get a discount on parts...hehe) and the catalog didnt specify anything for standard or automatic. I can double check tonight.

I had one of them grant steering wheels that i got off a 72 gmc truck in the junkyard. Easy, very easy swap exept for two things.
1. the wheel was too d_m_ small, i think it was a 12 inch but it looked good in the cab of the other truck probably because it had no seat in it. duh
2. Another "Duh" because whenever i turned it it would grind with the column, cause the dude hit a pole the wrecked gmc and his body probably hit and bent the wheel.
In all it was a cool wheel (too small) so now it is used to decorate the garage on the wall.

I'll just go with the box recommendation. The reason I bought it was my late model Chevy truck wheel is too big in my opinion.

I've had several grant wheels and really liked the looks and feel they give, I just wish they could come up with a better horn button, they've used the same cheesy setup for years.

1960-1969 use a grant 3162

1970-1973 use 3163

1974-1994 use 3196

catalog offered nothing about standard or automatic columns except for 1976-1981 Vans they are different
