Power Steering question

What's the difference between the original pumps for our vehicles and a newer one. As you can see in my sig, I've swapped in a '98 engine with all the accessories from a Chevy truck. I'm curious what the differences as far a pressure goes, might be.

Is it a straight swap functionally? (Other than the hoses) Or is there a pressure/flow difference that I need to be aware of.

I don't see where there would be any difference other than pressure hose. Late model uses metric o-ring fittings and earlier (prior to around 1980) uses inverted flare fittings on the pressure hose. Return line shouldn't need anything more than hose clamps. I haven't personally used anything as new as 1998 but I can't imagine that they are that much different than what has been used for so many years.

I tried that swap to a newer pump and couldn't find an adapter to fir the 71 hose to the pump. You might have to have it made

Thanks guys. I've actually got it installed, had a hose made from the old box side and new pump side. Kinda Dr. Moreau making mutants. I haven't driven it yet, but noticed it turned pretty easy and was mostly curious about the pressures.
