going low or just down on my knees
I'm thinking about lowering my 72 SWB SS but don't know what the right or best way is. Can you install just springs in the front for a 1 or 2 inch drop.
The truck seems a little low now, what should the stock springs measure? |

Mike - I put 3" lowering springs on mine and it didn't even throw my alignment off. There's several different ways to do it, the easiest way for me is to use two jacks. Jack up the truck and places on jack stands, then place two jacks under the lower control arm (one under the spring and one under the mounting arm). Remove the two U-Bolts and slowly lower both jacks. You can do it with one jack it's just easier with two.

a better way to do it is with a drop spindle in the front. most old springs have sagged, and are lower already, so getting a drop spring may not give you any drop since it's much stiffer. you could cut your coils too.
