ampmeter works backwords

I took my gauges apart and cleaned them up. (the lights now work!!!) anyway I noticed tonight the ampmeter seems to be reading backword. With the engine off and turning the lights on the meter reads toward the charging side. Any ideas?

That was my first thought but you can't wire it backwards. It is the factory guage. and hooks up thru the printed circuit board on the back of the guage cluster.

Did you take the resistor off the gauge? If so you must have switched sides when you put it back on.

It can be wired backwards, but highly unlikely if it worked before. Easy to switch the wires under the dash and hood.
