My old bench is VERY badly torn up, so I figure that an upgrade (or a heavy restoration) is in order. I've rode around in a few late 88+up chevy regular cab trucks lately, and found the bench seats in them pretty comfortable. They are the ones with the cloth around the edge, and the kind of tweed center with the big deep ribs in the foam. My question is, will this seat fit in my 72, and has anyone ever had one re-covered? I would like to do the edges in vinyl and the center in tweed if at all possible. Also, what years did these seats run from and what is the usual selling price on one? Thanks!

next time you go for a ride in one take a tapemeasure with you and measure the seat /almost anything when properly modified will work as long as it's about the same width

The 88-98 benches fit in very easily, almost a bolt in replacement, especially the 88-94 years. Yes they can be recovered. EdB and I found one for his truck in red and he had it redone in dark green vinyl/leather lookin stuff. Likeyou said they are super comfortable compared to the ones that came in our trucks.

Like the others have said, they look good and fit good and are real comfortable. Bill has a link in his signature with the install of this seat and the belts you might find helpful.

I've got one in my truck, very comfortable, but I really want to switch to a set of short back buckets from the same years..........Jerry

The stock bench with springs and foam repaired/replaced it also nice. I am not trying to sway you against the newer seat as they are easy to install and plentiful at any junkyard, but the stocker can be made pretty nice for not much $$. I had one redone in black vinyl with black cloth inserts and it was great. Of course, if you have relocated the gas tank and need the seat to flip forward for speaker access, then its time for a trip to the junkyard. PM me if you need a number for a good stitch guy in Saskatoon.

I paid 100 to 125 for the ones I have. That seems to be the going price at the yards locally (what few we have) for a decent one. Least around here they are getting hard to find, but so is anything...including junkyards....dang condos.

Thanks for the help Heavy D. Re-covering the stock seat is my other option, but the reason I want a newer one is because my stocker is pretty beat. The foam is torn down right to the springs on the drivers side, and there are quite a few gouges in the back also. The seat adjuster is broken off also, and lots of the bolts that hold the sliders to the bottom are long gone. Basically, it would probably be cheaper to buy a newer one and get it re-covered than to fix my wreck. I haven't moved the gas tank, so I don't need the tilt option. What all can your stitch guy do? Basically what I would want is new tweed put in the center where the deep ridges are on the newer bench and white high grade vinyl/leather around the edge. Could he do that and does he stock fabric? Also, if I choose to rebuild my old seat, can he do new foam. I am more of a Regina guy, but I am willing to drive to Stoon for a quality job.

Palf70step, thanks for the price estimates. Gives me something to go by when searching up here.
