Windshield washer pump doesn't work...

I can't figure this one out. Originally my trucks's wipers weren't working. So I replaced the entire assembly from a scrapyard find, washer pump and all. Now I have wipers that work great, but can't get fluid to spray on the window. So then I figured I'd rebuild the pump assembly. Did that last night with an autozone rebuild kit, and exactly the same problem. I even swapped out the pump from my old wiper motor assembly, still nothing.

Any ideas? I don't even know what to check next?

does it click or make any noise at all? If it does its a plumbing problem. If not it might be electrical.

Yeah, I can hear it trying to work. But no water flowing, I should be able to put my finger on the hose that leads into the washer reservoir and feel a vacuum right? Maybe I can try hooking an air compressor up to one end of the hoses, to tell if they are plugged up...

The rubber seal on the "piston" inside the washer pump might be so dry rotted that it can't pull a vacuum. I had that happen to me with about 6 different pumps.

If the pump actually works (wich I doubt) pull a line off of the nozzle and try it then. Nozzles get plugged.

It's tough to find a good used washer pump. The re-build kits only come with the check valves and washers. The main problem with em is the lil cam lobe on the pump wears down and makes it VERY hard to actuate. I've figured out how to re curve the cam lobe. Next problem is the cylinder walls are usually gouged and water will leak past the piston into your cab. I have thrown away good money trying to figure out how to rebuild this pump cheaply. Played with later years/models looking for a good donor parts. Everything was trash.

Best bets. Junk it. If you are stuck on factory (like me) go buy a new one. My non-delco one was $29.00. You have to get it from one of the Chevy truck vendors. the parts houses do not have a the mechanical one. If you don;t mined a generic solid-state pump, you can buy them everywhere for around $20.

Edit: Trust me. It will be cheaper in the long run.
