Does anyone sell solid motor mounts for our trucks? I think I need them

I fired up the 496 today and that thing was rockin'

(literally!) Anyway, my header clearance is pretty close in some places so I'm trying to keep the twist down to a minimum. Any help would be appreciated.

If it's a street vehicle, you'll hate solid motor mounts and it will literally cause bolts to come loose in all sorts of places. Been there, done that.

The alternative is a torque strap. Some woven steel rope terminated in loops at the end to attach to the driver's side of the engine and the frame. An even easier alternative is a piece of chain doing the same job of limiting engine lift. I've done both and they work well limiting engine movement while maintaining the vibration dampening that rubber motor mounts are designed for.

On my Olds big blocks I would drill completely through the rubber mounts and through-bolt with a grade 8 bolt in a 5/16" size with a lock nut. I wouldn't tighten it down all the way so there was some damping ability of the rubber mount.

Just some ideas, but unless it's an all out drag motor, solid motor mounts are bad news. Even then, it's a better plan to go with engine plates.

They do sell them without the poly mounts, so you can run some Moroso solids. Theres a tech artical in Classic Trucks Mag this month, about these. I was thinking about buying a set and going with the Energy poly mount ( because they have red). Right now I have big block Towers with small block pads, and I dont have any twisting problems. I just thought I would clean it up a little

it should be easy to make solid mounts out of steel plates,if you really want them

the torque straps are a good idea i've used them made with turnbuckles so they were easily adjustable
