'60-'66 gas tank relocation - what did you do?
'60-'66 gas tank relocation - what did you do?
Heya folks. The point of this thread is to consolidate information about adding a tank other than the one in the cab of the truck, or maybe adding a bigger tank on a burb/panel. So here are the questions, answer any and all that apply if you would please. Read through the whole list first, I tried to come up with different questions to answer as many different relevent questions as possible. If you think of other stuff to add, add it under 'other comments' at the bottom. Thanks. The point is to stuff as much gas tank relocation information for our trucks/panels/burbs/ton trucks as possible in one thread. -W ------ The questions -------- year: model(truck, panel, burb): long wheelbase or short wheelbase: fleetside, stepside, utility bed, flat bed, other: tonnage(1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, 1 ton, etc.): 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive: stock ride height or lowered: If lowered, how low can you go with your tank: leaf springs or coil springs with trailing arms(or other custom supsension): Stock rear axle, yes/no? which one? : different rear axle than stock? Which one? : What tank did you use? Is it a tank off another model year car or truck? If yes, then what vehicle was your tank originally made for?: Is it a custom aftermarket tank? If so, what is the manufacturer and where did you get it? : Is it a tank you fabricated or had fabricated yourself from some other material?: How does the fill tank tube work? Through the bed or through the bedside?: Did you use a store bought fill tube or did you fabricate your own?: What route does your fill tube take?: What type of fuel door did you use?: What kind of modifications to your truck did you have to make in order to get it to fit?: What kind of sending unit did you use in your tank?: Does your stock gas gauge work with the set up or do you use an aftermarket gas gauge?: If you are using your stock gas gauge, were there any modficiations needed to make it work? If so, what were they?: What problems did you encounter, if any? : Are you happy with the results? What would you do different if anything?: Any other bits of advice or comments on gas tanks: |
