My neighbor says

that I can get a whole K member suspension and all out of a 87-90 1/2 ton and bolt it right in my 70 with no modification other than brake lines. Anybody know about this?

from what i have heard all but 4 holes bolt up so you will have to drill out 4 holes but other than that it'll bolt up......

I don't know about 88 and up, but 73-87 will work.

If it is an 87-90 Sububan it'll work. Like others have mentioned, the 73-87 trucks go in real easy. Newer models don't just bolt in.

Just trying to get disk brakes right now. Want to lower it for sure later, just figured disk brakes were the way to start out. Ive read up on what im sure are easyier ways to do this, but it just bolts in. then it will all match and be easyier to find parts for.

I really don't think a 1990 model will bolt in at all. In fact I don't remember any way that those unbolt at all. I could be wrong but I did sawzaa the entire front end off a 1990 truck. All I kept was the spindles, calipers, rotors etc. In fact I have another set of spindles if someone wants them. See the FAQ pages for the swap info...

Im not tryin to thread jack but i have a question on a very similar subject.Will a front crossmember off of and 86 burb bolt up to 4 out of the 8 holes like the truck ones do on my 64 c10?

I put an '87 Burb K member under a '64 p/u, an '85 p/u K member under a '66 Carryall, so the answer is yes. You have to add some spacers on the p/s sector to clear the frame and drill some holes but it's pretty much a straight forward deal.

I've done a few of your model also and it's pretty much what has been said. '73-'87 will work but I've never tried the '88-'90 K members.

The reason I asked is it seems to me to be easier to swap spindles than a whole x member, but then again I have all the parts.i have two disc brake doners,if yu were close enuff and could pull them yourself for $100 you could get everything including the booster and lines.

I put a complete crossmember from a 79 C10 under my 69 gmc. All bolted up except one hole on each side that had to be drilled out. I used and ran the old brake lines on the back side like the old set up, I just had to redo a couple of lines up to the prop valve and the rubber hoses to the calipers. With the newer setup the lines run on the front of the crossmember but the old ones run on the back side.

Thanks for all the info. Ill have to deciede how I want to proceed. I was thinking also if I got a complete crossmember and all out of another truck, I could be replacing all the bushings, blasting the metal for paint while driving my truck and when its ready just swap em out. Also from all ive read about the brake swaps it would be easier to have everything from one truck without having issues with this year tie rods wont work with this year spindles have to have control arms out of this year so it will work with that year. Getting a whole k memeber its all the same year and all works correctly together without the confusion.
