Freebie, Nuthing, Nada #2

Need some help, want to make a fuel tank skid plate out of my freebie's, I
have a Certified Welder at work that does me these types of favors , just
need someone to give me all of the dimensions so I can reproduce it 4 "GQ"

It's Polished 1/8 Aluminum Diamond Plate 18" Wide / 52" Long (2 peices)

I dont even need to go to work my dad and 2 uncles are all certified welders, and one is a certified race chassis builder. Can you say runs in the blood?

I don't know LUV, looks like the first rock you try to go over will tear right into it.
Get him to weld up some 1/4 plate steel for some real protection.

Oh yeah that's right...GQ means garage queen.

Those pieces look nice and free is always very cool.

With that thin of material, I would suggest that you have your friend build a frame of something substantial and then you can use this stuff to make a nice looking cover for it.

Maybe a square tube frame that can be unbolted from GQ's frame in the future. Then just bolt this stuff to it.

But I still need measurements to go by

Did you get this info? or do you still need it. Im going to be In Murfrreesburo on the 20 if you would like Ill try to dig the one I have outa storage and mabe we can try to get together so you can mesure it out or I can make you a patern out of poster board.

Well here it goes front to back it is a total of 27 in long and 32 in wide at its widest point. I have broken it down in to 5 parts unfortunately I didn’t have a way to measure the angles out so I will need to get you that info latter.

First the bottom. The bottom front and back were one piece and the sides are welded on.

The Bottom is 16 in long and 25 ¼ wide but the sides are bent around it making it 25 ¾ wide.
It then bends in to the front this is not quite a 90 degree bend . the front is 8 long its with starts at 25 ¼ wide it tapers out for the first 5 in length ware its widest point of 32 starts it then goes 3 longer. If you check pic 2 you will see a cut out on the driver side it starts at the edge of the 3 in section and goes up the tapered end. It is 3 in length and ¾ deep there was nothing in the way on my blazer for this cut out so I think it may have been for the original exost but I’m not sure.

The bottom then bends in to the back. The back start out 25 ¼ wide is a total of 9 long it is tapered for 6 in ware it is then 32 in wide. Then 3 longer at 32 wide.

Next both the front and back have an additional 1 ½ lip in length this is ware the bolts were. The front passenger side has a n area cut out of the lip it starts 2 from the end is 9 ½ long it is tapered up on the far edge to 7 long and has ½ out of the main body of the front cut out. . You can see this in PIC 2 and 7. This is ware the fuel lines will come out.



Next are the passenger and drivers side panels both are the same except for a notched out area on each one. This was a little hard to measure with it being rounded off so I will get you as close as I can. Their length at the bottom is 16 in they then taper down 6 ½ in this will meat the 32 in wide section of the back it will then taper to the front. In the front it will come down 3 on the edge of the front 2 above the 32 wide sections.

Next the notches pic 6 the passenger side starts 5 from the back is 3 in long and ¾ deep.

Then Pic 5 the drivers side starts 1 in from the front is 3 long and ¾ deep. The only thing I can think these were for are the tank straps.

Wow, hey Earl thanks for taking the time to do that for me, I know that
was a little bit of work and I am thankfull for it, I will let you know how
