Man, are the new GM Buckets nice in the '71

Finally got the '00 Buckets and center section in my '71 C-20 project. I originally planned to wait until the body work was done to install them, but decided to put them in now. It sure makes it a nice comfortable truck to drive now!

The only bad part is we've been helping my neighbors irrigate their tomattoe crop and the nice seats are covered in dried mud...........We lost our rented ground last year, so we no longer farm, but I guess once a farm truck, it'll always be a farm truck!

We've been moving hard line and irrigation pumps with it and the Cummins is running great!..............It's probably the only pickup in my area covered with mud. We sure need the rain bad!

If anyone is looking at newer GM buckets to put in their ride, I highly recommend them!

The late model seats look real nice and are much more comfortable. I tested some later model seats like that but they shoved me way too close to the steering wheel. At 6'4" and 235# I need a little more room than the new seats afford.

I am 6'1" and break in on the scales a 215..........My brother is 6'3" and we don't seem to have any trouble. I was initially concerned at first about it as it looked alittle close, but after using it they are just right. A tilt wheel column and a smaller steering wheel would solve any problems IMO.

I have those exact seats, but have not installed them yet. Do you have any more pics of the seats or of the install. They would me most helpful.

Seats look good in there. Do you still have the factory tank?
Were you able to use the '00 brackets and bolt them right in or was there some fab work required?

We just drilled holes in the floor for the buckets after moving the sliding track ahead some..........Works well, but be aware that you'll have to put plates on both the top and underside of the floor so they don't eventually bounce through the floor, or pull up through. The center piece took some modification, but basically we just torched off the OEM mounting tabs, and relocated them in the front, and I took a piece of flat stock and ran it across the factory bracket in the rear. I mounted it down lower than the other two so I could throw my ledgers and other junk and not have it slide all over.

Yes, the fuel tank is still behind them too.
