tires
I am looking for new tires and as I haven't done this enough in my life i am looking for some good recommendations. it has to be 235/85R16 for my burb.
I am looking for an open tread pattern that allows the water to flow away, almost ending up in the ditch twice in two days has forced me to get them early (was planning on end of the summer). As we get 1-6 inches of rain per storm, i need the wet traction but in a Load Rating E tire. I had some Michelin XCX/APT on my 76 C1500 but as it had big pads it was fine for normal driving but if i hit a slick portion of the road it would swing the back end around to easily even at 1/4 throttle. With a 454 now i dont want that to happen here. I like the tire and can get it locally for around $137.99 ea. but that traction loss just bugs me. This is a closed pattern that i do not want, it wont let the water escpae the sides: This is an open pattern that i like but not as big pads (this is the XCX/APT): This is close to what i like but i still like opinions here, hopefully from somone in the south that knows what its like to drive in the very heavy rains with these trucks/burbs.

Don't have the weather but you can look through here and they have a user rating system for the tires they carry and pictures. Might be some help...Tire Rack

I have Hankook Dynamic RF04's on my F350. They came with the truck. They seem fine in the rain.
Cooper Discoverer comes to mind also My Dad has Michelin X Radila LT's on his '79 C20 crew w/camper. He says they're good in rain.

i like the RF04's but not the coopers, it has the large pad that end up slick on the roads with seashells ground into them (yes they do that alot here).
As for the X Radial LT, thats what is on there now and they are past the wear indicator so it is time... i did call one local place and for Michelin LTX A/T they want $829 before tax and M/S they want $789.. a bit out of my price range. i appreciate the recommendations, anyone else?

Yokohama tires, I started to use them 10 years ago. They have your sizes and various tread patterns. They wear very, very well, had a set on my 96 blazer 58,000 miles. Hard enough to wear well but soft enough to be great in the rain. Price fairly. I have them on 5 different types of vehicles and they perform great. Tires.com has free shipping and good prices
