Well, I went to start my truck today. The interior light only comes on when I turn the ignition to the On or Acc position. With the door open the interior lights will not come on unless the ignition is switched also

Any Ideas or is that just the way it works.

They are hooked up to a fuze that's only powered when the ingition switch is on. All you have to do is get a dummy light and find a fuze that's powered all the time and hooked the interior lights to that one.

Well the tail lights and dash lights do the same thing. They only work when the key is on or Acc position.

The interior lights are hardwired into the stock harness.

What you are describing is not normal according to the wiring diagrams and the (9) trucks that we have. The power to the light switch and interior lights should be on all of the time. I suspect that the feed internal to the fuse panel is where the problem is.

What I don't understand is how it could have happened!

Does your truck have the original wiring?

Yes, It's original. Mabye it the connection between the firewall and the fuze box ? I will have to look at it tonight.

Just a thought... but I would check to see that the plug is seated all the way on your ignition switch.

I will check that also. It could verywell be the problem. I had the whole harness out of the truck mabye it came loose.

maybe its just me, but every single time i have had strange electrical problems it was related to a ground problem. id start checking all your grounds.

Well I just finished a ground up resto. All the grounds are perfect. I ground the paint off the frame and used stainless bolts. I have a ground from the battery to the frame 1 gauge one from the cab to the frame and another 1 gauge from the motor to the frame. I also dont have power to the starter. I am thinking I should check the fuze box to firewall connection. O most positive thats where the problem is.

Well I am a dumb ass....... I pluged the engine harness backwards.I flipped it over and everything works right now. Oppps
