Starter problems

I'm having trouble with either the flexplate or starter on my 383, both have less than 100 miles on them.
When crancking it sounds like the starter speeds up and slows down on every revoloution of the motor, tried shimming but it does not help.

Also if you cranck it over without starting, the bendex kicks back in as it should, but if the motor starts the bendex gets caught in the flexplate for a few seconds before kicking back in.

I dont know if this has anything to do with it but it seems to have started doing this after I was driving it and for some unknown reason the motor bucked and I heard valve train noise, pulled the valve cover and I had broke the intake rocker stud and bent the exhaust pushrod on the number 6 cylinder. Any ideas?

Time to do a compression test...I'll bet #6 doesn't seal very well anymore.
