Question on where to buy new GasTanks
Looks like my fear was right .I got the rust out tank blues. Anyone have a place they worked with and feel they are good people to to buy tanks and maybe straps to.
I have not measured them yet and for all that I dont know if they are 16 or 20 gallon tanks. I`ve Got a `1984 GMC LWB 6.2L Diesel Two tanks. I will be measuring them to night if I get that darn plastic protector off. Thanks |

I can get you Gas Tanks and straps. Goodmark is the supplier.
The LWB will have 20Gal tanks (at least one that is).

Not all LWB's have 20 gal tanks. My 86 and Dad's 84 LWB's both have 16 gals. I think most Diesels had 20's though. Look under the truck. If the tank is almost to the rear wheel well it is a 20, if it stops a little behind the cab it's a 16...

I believe the diesels had 20's in them. At least my 82 does and it does extend back to the rear wheel well. (Made it fun to grind my leaf spring bolts with the tank that close!)
Anyways, I got my tank from Advance Auto here in town. They are part of the CSK auto group I believe. They actually had the tank in stock as well which shocked me and if memory serves me right, I believe that I paid $150 for it. But don't quote me on the price.

Hey thanks guys . I called a few local auto parts places and got the 125 to 140 on a tank .I also see a few places on e bay for 69.00 plus 30 bucks del .But I called a local junk yard .And they sold me a tank made in canada and was only 105 out the door .
But the bad news is that I had to get the mounting brackets that mount to the truck including the straps. gezzzzzz So tonight I go to town and put it all back together . Thanks Guys |
