Hello all, new here and I have a question.
Hello, I am new to this forum and so far I seem to enjoy it. I have a question that I would like some information on. I am needing to know what year are the factory hubcaps that have the 5 fake lug nuts around the outside of the hub, with a cap attachment in the center with the chevrolet bowtie bolted on. Also what hub caps/wheel covers were available in 1969 and what would be the most likely one used on the C/10 base trucks of that year. Thank you for the site and information in advance.

Can't answer your question, but welcome to the board. Where are you from in Kentucky?

Those are the 88 and newer style centercaps. For our year trucks, dempending on the model and options your likely to have what we call the dog dish (painted or polished) style, as well as several full wheel cover style. My own opinion is that more wore equipped with the dog dish style, more that full wheel covers. I have seen the painted style more than anything else, but that is just me.

I believe there was a '68 version of a full wheel cover and a '69-'72 that is the way you described.

I think my 70 GMC had something like what you described but with GMC in the center. I really don't remember exactly, it's been a while since I looked at that wheel cover. to the board from Ohio.

The deluxe wheel cover was a full cover with fake lug nuts and a center hub. On some the bow tie was blue and others were gold. The early version did not have the center hub and the cap was painted a charcoal black color. The base models had a 'dog dish" cap which was smaller with few embleshments. Watch for "67-72 chev/GMC truck sales brochures" on e-bay and you will see the caps that were available.

Hubcaps or Wheel Covers
I can speak with some knowledge as I have a 1969 C10 that came with the painted version of hubcaps. They had a few nicks and some rust in places, but would have required much effort and expense to restore. These for the 1969 are not readily available, or at least my experience was such. The hupcaps that fit on the 1973-80 plus will fit and are probably more easily found. These are the ones with the gold bowtie in the center. I found 5 NOS (New Old Stock) on eBay at a reasonable price. Another place is Hubcaps (http://www.hubcaps.org/makes.html) that has plenty of variety although somewhat expensive - really class people to deal with on caps. Hope this helps! To see my hubcaps click on the registered user name above (Orange Truck) and look at the truck and hubcaps.
