Any Edelbrock crate motor users??
Trying to finish my 69 step. P.O. stated the 350 in it was rebuilt, but with all the other inconsistencies I have found with this truck, I do not trust this motor as my daily driver (haven't got it on the road yet due to de-rusting my "rust free" purchase). I was thinking about installing an Edelbrock crate motor in the truck (350). As I said, this is a daily driver, so any one ventured down the Edelbrock crate path?

It is a new 350 chevrolet block put together by the Edelbrock corporation with Edelbrock heads, rpm performer intake, matching cam, etc.... They sell them through Summit or the Edelbrock website. They have many different combinations available. The more I hear on this board about rebuilding nightmares/mexican block motors, and how local machine shops can bend you over, the more scared I am about commiting 2 years worth of grocery money to a powerplant.

Only thing about the Edelbrock is their cam design is way old. The newer cams, such as the Comp Cam Xtreme Energy are so much better there's no comparison.

I thik they're a little too pricey, especially for the HP numbers. I think the best deal on crate motors is the 350H.O. Deluxe. My dad bought one of them for his Monte Carlo SS. When they say deluxe, they MEAN IT. WE bought it from Summit for 3500 bucks and came complete from air cleaner to spark plugs and wires. It even had the PCV valves and hoses connected to the carb.
The only drawbacks are the centerbolt valve covers(I'm not crazy about them) and the dizzy was not set at TDC with the engine. It runs like a bat out of hell. In my opinion, you get more HP at a better price. I think the Edelbrock engines start at 5800 bucks.
