Help w/rebuilding truck tilt....

I bought a truck tilt for my 69 short step. After getting a 'good' condition tilt column it appears that it needs work. Pointer replaced along w/some new shaft bearings and pointer housing w/lense. Also the signal housing is bent and dented up. So Is there anybody who would like to rebuild this for me? I could do it but don't want to spend the time to learn a tilt column. It will need paint when done too. Who's up for the challenge and what would it run me $ wise.

I'd like to get mine rebuilt too. It squeaks real bad when it's cold.

68stepbed,

I assume that your squeek is when you turn the steering wheel. If that is when the squeek happens try greasing the horn brush. You might also try some oil on the lower bearing. The upper bearings are pretty well greased and I doubt if they are making the noise.
