my friend's friend has a 650 speed demon, it has been sitting for about two years, it has never been used, he bought it, then he sold his project because his wife had a baby, he wants $250 for it, is it a good deal, also if i get it should i rebuild it because of it sitting that long, also are there any good books on the demon carbs

im not a big fan of the demon carbs, if the carb has never had fuel ran through it, it may still be good to go. 250 seems high to me, more than id pay at least.

I would say stay away from it. Demon carbs are great for certain applications. Your street truck is not one of them.

250.00 Is Cheap But Like N2truxs Said They Are Not Really For The Street Motor And Infact They Are Very Sinsitive To The Diffrent Temps Here In Oklahoma I Tweek Mine A Little Every Season They Are A Good Carb Though

it seems right theres a couple of show trucks that i know that run a demon on the street and havent had any problems sht im goin to be buyin one for my dads coupe once i get the money saved up since hes buildin a 60 over 283 that will be blown with a mini b&m blower

I'd say thats a good price, my buddy paid 340 or something like that when he got his. They seem to be a really good smooth carb, I gotta buy one next when I get my engine done and back together. He loves his. Good luck with your choice.

my friend had a radical 327 with a 750 or 850 mighty demon he drove it everyday on the street, smooth even at 7,000 rpm's, it idled smooth, also my truck will be a weekender, after the summer i am getting another vehicle, but i'm keeping the truck also

Demons are just Holley clones with a few alterations. If its a 650 street demon it will be fine but if its a 650 DP race demon then pass on it.

I just talked to the tech guy at Barry Grant friday. He reccomended the 650 speed demon for my mild 350 I gave him the cam specs stall speed. He said either the 650 speed or the 625 road demon. They sell for 570 CDN. I have heard lots of good about these carbs. I would buy it for $250.00 Just call Barry Grant and ask them if you would need a rebuild if it has been sitting for 2 years.

I have a 1406 Eld P.O.S. Now thoes carbs are JUNK.

I say it'll work. We had a 650 Demon on my brothers mild 350 in his '82 and it ran like a champ. Infact, when we dropped off to the 600 holley even with tuning we couldn't get the seat of the pants feel out of it that we did with the demon.

BTW, this is 87 Shortwide... for some reason I can't get 87 Shortwide to work...

Demons are just Like Holleys Im fine with either but i KNOW How to work on them and get them tuned right

Alot Of people expect to put them on and GO But they need to be setup for each paticular vehicle and thats some fine tuning alot of people either dont want to do or dont know how.

It will be fine without a rebuild Spray some wd-40 or something similar into the bowl vents To lubricate everything Not really that much too them Whats hard on a carb is when there put up with gas in them and stored for several years.

A 650 should be a good choice for you. I've had one on a daily driven 86 GMC PU for years. If the carb has been sitting for that long, spraying it out with some WD-40, or CRC would be recommended. You may even want to install new bowl & metering block gaskets on it, or atleast check them, but other than that you should be good to go.

sorry tech @ BG i ordered a holley 650 double pumper from jegs yesterday, i wanted a demon but im on a real tight budget, i did this after i found out the demon got sold
