Your opinion on thick and thin tires.

Well I think I'm down to the wire on my tire selection. I have some 8" rims comming I wanted some input on tire sizes.

My though was either 275/60/15 on all 4 corners or 275/60/15 on the back and 265/60/15 on the front. That's not a huge difference but I couldn't rember if the front axil was wider then the back like the 4wd's. Also I wasn't sure if I'd have steering issues. I have a 2/4 drop on my 87 short wide. I dont' bother to rotate tire to much, so that not a great concern.

That would be a 28.4" tall x 11.2 wide tires all around or

28.8" tall x 11.2" wide rear and 27.9" tall x 10.8 in the front.

thoughts???

I would do the 275/60's all around for the simple reason that I have never heard of a 265/60. Going to a 275/60, which is a lot more common size, will give you a lot more choices in tires. That being said, in 15" tires, BFG Radial TA's are my favorite.

Riptide,

Do you have a side pic of your truck? I want to see how a 26" tire looks in the wheel well.

If anybody has some pics of the side profile of their truck and tire size I'd appreciate it.

thanks

bob

I would not put 235's on a 8" rim. Not wide enouth and I think would look funny. MO

I have 255/60/15 front on 7" van rallys and 275/60/15 on 8" rallys on the back. Killer looking combo Fat in the Back and smaller inthe front. I think the front was 27.1 and the backs are 28. That is on my 67 but the sizes look really good.

On a 4x4 the front is wider. I would also like to see some profile shots listing tire size and ride height. There is a sticky for this on the 67-72 section, it would be nice to see it on this section also. Anyone?

Thank you all for the info.

see ten I agree we need a sticky for 73-87.

I truely believe tires can make or break the looks of a vehicle. I'm not into the bling thing but a nice well fited tire and wheel combo that fits' the look of the truck.
