Question Whole lotta shakin' goin' on...

Okay, maybe not a whole lot, but enough to be annoying. I have a vibration that comes in at about 50-55 mph. It starts very small, gets faster, then goes away. It cycles every second or two. The truck has all new stuff in the front, rebuilt 400 trans and new driveshaft. My guess is that it's something in the rearend. So what do ya'll think? Wheel bearing, bent axle, gears?

could be as simple as tires not balanced. Maybe a wheel weight came off or you got a tire going bad. I had a brand new tire warp on me once so bad you could visibly see it, and is shook the he11 out of the truck

Could also be your flywheel. If it is cracked it will vibrate also. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

is it a LWB?

I had this happen on my suburban and it was the rear carrier bearing.

took mine to a local drive shaft shop and the replaced two u-joints and the rear-carrier bearing for $134 out the door.

First, easiest, cheapest thing to check is the tires for ballance or a defect.

When I used to drive the big trucks I had that happen a few times and it was either u-joints, carrier bearing or the splines binding on the drive shaft.
Remember "New" is not always perfect.

Sounds like a u-joint. Take it drive shaft back and let them ckeck it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have this terrible habit of diving way farther into a problem than is required only to find it was a simple fix. I'll check tires, alignment and u-joints first.
