Install 2" lowering springs = 1" lift kit???

Okay guys... i put summit brand 2" drop coils in my front end last week... ran into that lower ball joint problem, slammed in a couple new ones, got it all put back together and set it down... only to find that i had acheived a 1" lift.

I measured the fender height before, at 32" and after, 33" ... noticibly more air btwn the tire and fender... and the new springs are noticibly shorter than stockers... when i put my weight on the core support, the truck doesn't have any travel...

so, is it:

1. my stock shocks binding up and not allowing the truck to settle? (although they were on the truck w/ the stock springs)

2. or is it that the tops of the springs are binding up and not in place... or, it is that the springs are in upside down??? i put them in, just as the stock ones were in there, even though the lettering on the springs were upside down...

3. or is it that the springs suck and its time to modify!

4. something else!??!

Yeah, make sure the springs are seated correctly, its pretty easy to not have em seat properly and you get lift instead of drop

the springs do have the small part at the top, but i'm concerned that they are not "in" at the top... just off to the side... ???

At the top, the spring has sort of a D shape. Look up in there before you put it in and orient the spring correctly. At the bottom, there is a small low spot on the LCA (back, toward the engine) that the end of the coil fits into. Both should line up correctly.

My second set of Moog springs had the top and bottom clocked wrong on one spring. When it was line up at the top, it did not fit at the bottom. Line it up on the bottom, it fit wrong at the top. It took me forever to figure out it wasn't my fault.

Unless your old springs were new, they might have been completely shot, allowing the front end to drop unusually low. My truck looked dropped in the front with the old stock springs.

Could be that your stock springs were worn significantly.
