Rear disk brake question
Hey guys,
I am installing my rear disc kit on my 70 c 10. Does the C shaped snap ring that is in between the piston and inner brake pad have to be installed? or is it just for shipping? Right now I have the pads installed without this ring in and everything "looks" ok. If the spring is put in there will be a lot of tension on the pads relative to the discs. The kit is from classic performance products. Please respond, I have very little brake systems experience. Thanks

I am not 100% I know what you're talking about, but I think it may be the silencer. That should prevent the pads from making noise. Have any pictures?

I think that is what they are called.
I talked to tech support at Classic Performance and they said I probably would not need them. They are C shaped and seem to be intended to hold a little extra pressure on the pads and the guy called them scilencers. Thanks for your reply.

Don't throw them away. If your pads do make noise you can always put them back in.
