Post hydraulic lifter ajustment ?

2 questions
1)- When you adjust hydraulic lifters you have to ajust them on the low (valve cloesed)part of the cam rite?
2)- After ajusting them and rotating the cam to the high spot( valve open) I cannot spin the push rod, but on the low spot(valve closed, I can. Is this normal?
I adjusted them by spinning the pushrod until no more slack then turn the bolt 1/2 turn to compress the plunger, doing this on the low spot of cam.
I just want to make sure I'm doing it rite tanx.

You got it, sounds good.
The book will call for one full turn after zero lash, but what you have done (refered to as 1/2 past zero) is an old hot rodders truck that frees up the engine just a little. Makes it rev a hair quicker.
Once you fire it and brake in the cam, if you have any lifter tick, remove the covers and find the one that is ticking. While it is running, turn till the tick goes away, then 1/2 more turn.
Some will say this is a no-no doing it 1/2 past, but it has always worked for my grand father (old school hot rodder) and I've never had a problem either.

I instaled a edelbrock cam and they tell me to go 1/2 turn after zero lash. In my hayns book, they tell me to go 1 turn but i went with what edelbrock said.

Esp with eldebrock cams...they seem to wear a little too fast. (heard way too many ppl that this has happened to) I'm running one with about 50K on it...so far so good.
Kinda contradicting myself huh?
