Dash Pad Question

I came across a dash pad out of a 78 for sale that is in good shape but I am wondering if it will work in my 84? The seller is telling me that I would only have to buy a bezel out of a 73-80 and everything else is the same besides the speaker holes, which I do not run speakers up front anyway. Has any else heard or tried this?

you will need the earlier bezel. The one in you 84 sticks out badly at the top. The only downside is that there will be a hole for the wiper switch in the earlier bezel.

Won't it cover up the VIN, also?

I think the 78 and later pads have the cut out for the VIN.

dash year separations: 73-78, 79-80, 81-87 So i guess we could assume that 79 would be the year of the vin cutouts. who knows
