Monster Tach question

I've got a 5" Phantom Tach with a shiftlight. Is it possable to run the tach with the light unplugged? I want to put the tach in my 80 but i dont need the light. Thanks.....

I think just about all tachs with a backlight all will have 2 connections for it. The connection to the distributor, and a set for a 12 volt source for the light. You should be just fine leaving the wires for the light unhooked.

Where do you plan on mounting that thing?.. I have a 2" tach mounted on my dash.. I also have a 4" tach that I bought to replace it.. But it was just too big. I could not find anywhere good to mount it..

if you get it mounted post a couple pics.. anyone else with tachs.. post some pics.. lets see where you have them mounted..

I was thinking on the floor near my heater vent.
I thought i had seen on the instructions (who reads those anyway) not to run it with the light unplugged.

why not just turn the light turnon point all the way to the max, so that it does not come on when you drive

I have no idea if it will hurt it to run it without the shift light. Why not sell it and buy a smaller tach without a shift light.
