What's my truck worth?
Before you say it, I know: Not much!
1977 C20 Silverado 454/T400 3.73s/posi with factory air, tilt, cruise. Body parts obviously rusted, but the 454 is strong and starts right up, no smoke and no noises. I just got the Texas tags and inspection done. New brake calipers, hoses, pads, shoes. What asking price would you start at? What do you think it's really worth? Here's my thought: Start out at about $1400, take 1100-1200. My Jag project needs a jumpstart, and I'd rather start with a nicer truck to be a driver than this one.

Brandon here's what I would do. I would spend a day cleaning the truck inside and out. I would hit the paint with a scotch brite pad then throw a coat of primer on it. Then I would set it out for 1950.00 and see what happens....

Does the a/c works ? That will make a big difference in value too. I think it would be a great truck for one of the many "Lawn Services" around here.....

No offense to anyone, but I think N2TRUX is the only one that "gets it", as he lives within a few miles of me. A running, driving 3/4 ton truck in ANY shape is worth a grand to those that lay brick, pull a backhoe, or do yardwork. I've sold many a used car/truck, and there's a high demand for a POS like this. Not to be mean, but let's hope the Minutemen on the border don't catch the guy that's going to buy my truck.

if it really runs out smooth and has working air and a big block. you could get $1200-$1500 all day around here.

A running/driving truck around here is generally $1000. Working AC in this heat is a plus, and TX isn't not any cooler. I would say $1200-1500 would be reasonable here also.

The price you are asking sounds reasonable to me for this area. I work near downtown (midtown) and there has been an old mid-70's 1/2 ton beater sitting for sale off Bagby Street for about a month. It originally said $2600 on the windshield, then it was $2200. I have been laughing my ass off at the asking price for weeks. This morning it was gone. I don't know if it sold, but I would gladly buy your truck before I bought this piece of crap! There didn't appear to be a straight body panel on the entire truck. Plus, I'd be surprised if it had a big block and the A/C worked. |

I agree Earl, if you do not get at least a grand I would not sell it. But I think you will get at least that much.

That's why I said I hope the Minutemen on the border don't catch one of my potential buyers. Most, but not all, of the older trucks I've sold went to Mexican people. It's not racist, it's true.

So you are saying that Mexicans give you more than you are asking? That is what it sounds like 82c10 is saying. Why would they do that??

i don't think anyone was out of line or offensive. i seen 9 people get out of an astro van the other day, sometimes that's just the truth and that's the way it is.
heck, money is money i would sell it to the guy that was willing to pay the most too.

It was the others that implied that Mexicans are somehow dumb enough to pay more than others, or that your truck is somehow better suited to Mexican families, that disappoint me. My point is that people's ethnicity has nothing to do with selling a truck. Why bring it up? Why perpetuate stereotypes? Why can't we just talk about Chevy trucks, and make this a place that is friendly to everyone? Slonaker BTW, I recently sold a V8 Jag for $300... Last edited by Slonaker; 07-19-2005 at 11:48 AM. |
