Oky well it's not a 73 but it a 72 with leafs. You guys will be more help to me than the others. I have 2" shackle and 3" dearched overload spring removed. 6" Drop. I have a slight vibiration around 75 MPH +. How did you correct the incorrect pinion angle ? I haver seen shims but are the useable with trucks ?

Thanks for the help,

i don't know, but my friend has dropped 2 driveshafts in his 80 shortwide in less than a year, he knows it is beacuse of his pinion angle, first he was racing a kid on a local street (my friend) had a mild 355, the other guy had a 350 with a couple add-ons, he won, and lets off the peddle , the rearend of his truck lifts up three feet in the air, he lands sideways, with it bouncing all over the road, he saves it, then he fixed it,drove it for a while, then sold the 355 to his friend, then he bought a 327 shortblock built for racing that used a 250 shot every weekend, he never used NOS with it thought , anyways he was racing a brand new 05 Mustang GT and smoked it, lets off the gas, and boom! drops the driveshaft again, broke the transmission bellhousing, broke the driveshaft, he couldn't even find part of the driveshaft but now he sold the 327 and last time i talked to him he was building a 434

i have a 80 model stepside lowered about 5 inches in the back and i got a vibration at about 6500 rpms or so after i did that. it never done it before i lowered the truck so i know its not in the motor. this really only affects me when im racing but i took the rearend out and cut the spring pads off and welded new ones on to where they lowered my pinion angle. pinion angle was at +1 before now its at -4 or 5. not real sure if this fixed it yet since i havent got it together to take it out and try it. i should be trying it this weekend if it fixed it i will let you know. the shims will work but i needed more then the 1 or 2 degrees they offer and i dont think you should stack them or you will have all kinds of problems hope this helps some. jason

The shims are availible for anything. Trucks aren't different. You just need your pinion angle between 3-4 degrees.
