Exclamation Quick ? about 70's vs 80's truck beds

There are a couple of beds for sale locally,my current one is a 73-79?or80?(the round fuel fill hole)question is if I get an 80's bed with the fuel filler doors will it fit without changing the filler neck?anything else to worry about?Or is it a bolt in?

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply, how did you shorten them just cut them?I guess if worse came to worse I could pull some filler necks from the junkyard.

The size of the hoses are different in the later models (smaller), therefore the filler neck is smaller. The tank is on the opposite side if you are going from pre-78 to post 78. If you have dual tanks then you only have to worry about the differnt size hose.

I am sure that 81 was the first year for the drivers side single tank. All of the 3 - 79's that my uncle and myself own are passenger side single tanks.

78 was the last year of the exposed cap.

So would I need to get different tanks also or just hoses?by the way I have duals and the bed for sale is dual.

I was thinking and typing at the same time. You are correct. 78 was the last year for exposed caps, and '81 they swapped to the drivers side.
