I am with mine, especially the 69. I am the second owner and it is all original, except for the 350 crate with HEI I recently put in. But I still have the original 307.

I'm restoring my 67 to stock. It was my wife's grandfather's farm truck and has sentimental value to our family. Everyone is really excited about the project.

Mine is 100% stock.
...except for the new motor, tranny, tilt, A/C (pending), Suburban leather seats, suburban 3-point belts, Autometer Pro-Comp gauges, roll-pan with LED tail lights, blazer tank, side marker fuel-filler, ralley wheels, FM radio converter, etc...etc...etc... But....honestly....the store had MOST of the stuff I added...IN STOCK.

Re: any of yall restoring to stock?
I'm not focusing on any one genre. I'm just kind of building it to my own needs. I'm a kid with his whole life ahead of him. I like the classic look, so I'm not doing any 1 piece window kits or bucket seats or compleetly new gauge cluster.
The inline 6 is staying put, just adding a few things on to it (so I stop getting passed by soccer moms!!!) and I went automatic. I might lower the front 2" and put on a tow package, but otherwise, my 67 is just a cruiser that can also carry me to school and camping trips

Re: any of yall restoring to stock?
I have a 71 Cheyenne Super I want to keep stock but I have a shortbed I will probably modify mildly. No lowering for me though - I must be a fuddy duddy or something because I just don't see the appeal.

I agree to some extent. I think lowering is great, so long as it doesn't take away the practicality that pickup trucks have to offer. Hmmm... practicality, I hope that's a real word

As stock as possible here. Only thing non-stock has been the dual exhaust. A truck has to sound like a truck.

Re: any of yall restoring to stock?
My '71 ūton will be as close to orig as possible with the following exceptions:
The old split rim wheels bit the dust a long time ago with the previous owner. I got one of them and it wasn't worth saving. So I've got later model 16" wheels. The engine has an Edlebrock Performer and matching manifold. Also a Mallory HEI ignition cause I just got tired of fooling with those old points and trying to rebuild a Quadra-Jet and actually get it right. I'm going to line the cab with Dyna-mat. The road noise is killing me and I want tunes. But since the dashboard has never been cut for a more modern stereo, much effort will be put into integrating modern sound equip in without damaging the "vintage" metal in any way. That's it! The truck just doesn't need anything else, IMHO. |

Re: any of yall restoring to stock?
I using as many stock components as possible to make my truck the way I want it.
I bought it as a 1970 C10 non-AC cab and box on a 1971 K10 chassis. It had a tired 350 and a 3-speed manual in front of a NP205 transfer case. It came with 6 mounted tires on stock steel rims. Only 3 of the rims fit on the front axel because of the rim change in 1971 when GM put disk brakes on these trucks. I took the 350 I had in the shop from my beloved and now deceased 1971 Monte Carlo and made a 383 for under the hood. On the 383 is an Edelbrock carb and intake. The exhaust is the LMC dual exhaust kit. The 3-speed was swapped to a rebuilt th350 and NP205 out of a 1972 Blazer. Future upgrades there include a 700r4 between the 383 and the NP205. I have located 4 stock steel rims that are scheduled to be blasted and painted this summer. I have located stock, paintable front and rear bumpers that are scheduled to be painted this summer. I have all the stock AC components and have modified the cab. All I need to do is buy a vacuum pump and suck it down then fill it up. When I'm done (I know you're never done), I'll have a stock looking, nice performing, not quite original, 1970 looking K10.

Re: any of yall restoring to stock?
I will be restoring my '69 GMC back to the way my grandfather had it...which is basically stock except for some white spokers and a 327cid instead of the 307 that I believe came in the truck. Sometimes I think I would like to dump a bigger engine in it and lift it, but for sentimental reasons I won't

Re: any of yall restoring to stock?
It's not fun driving a stock 67 around. No ps, no pb, no a/c, the 3 sp manual tranny requires that you do weight training with your left leg to operate it.... the list goes on. My truck has a relocated fuel tank and the hole in the cab was filled. I'm eliminating the side emblems and adding rally rims. So on the outside of the truck it's going to be about 95% stock. Underneath it's got power disk brakes, 350/700R4, it won't be on the road until fall, so a/c is not needed but I will be installing it early next year when I get my taxes back I love the look of stock trucks (mine will not be lowered) but they just aren't fun to drive... UNLESS your stock truck is a 72 cheyenne with pdb, ps, ac, auto....toss a gear vendors unit under it and a loaded 72 is good to go!

Re: any of yall restoring to stock?
67ChevyRedneck,
I'll back you up on that clutch, that thing was a monster Especially when, in order to get to and from my school, you endure a lot of bumper-to-bumper traffic. As for power steering, I added that as well. I don't miss power brakes, I can handle my stock drums just fine. Doesn't bother me. While I do miss the A/C, it's a small price to pay for driving an awesome vehicle. (And I know I'll get around to installing an aftermarket one eventually). Plus, I've grown accustomed to driving aorund half naked anyway

Re: any of yall restoring to stock?
I have kept mine original as much as possible. There are a few things that will come to pass and get replaced with the proper parts. Example, Elderbrock carb and exhaust headers. I removed all the 1968 front clip parts and replaced them with 1970. All other parts from the board members are from other years of our trucks but there original. In the end, all I want to do is drive it to the show, chill and show it off. Maybe win a trophy or two. States of where my parts have come from, CA, PENN, MINN, FL, MISS, WA, NV, SD, VIRG, OK, KS, TN, LA, MI, IL, allot of board members. Nice post!

Re: any of yall restoring to stock?
This one was so stock & original, all I did was detail it. Even the floor mats, dash pad, steering wheel, & painted hubcaps were original. I added stock PS.
