What did you get done? TX Heatwave edition

Yeah I know it's way to early for this thread, but I have to do it while I can. I'm leaving in an hour (or two) going to Austin for the Texas Heatwave show. Unfortunately I won't have a truck at the show since my 77 isn't done yet. Instead I will be meeting my buddy Keith (N2billet) and his family for a weekend of fun on Lake Travis. I'll be at the show mid day on Saturday so y'all track me down if your going.

Saturday afternoon while y'all are still seating in the heat, I'll be chillin at the pool at Lakeway Resort. I'll post pics when I get back in.

In the meantime what did you get done?

The view from my room-

Work, work, work...
I really wanted to go to the HeatWave. Usually go every year, so I guess this one won't hurt.

Heatwave time!
Have you noticed I haven't been posting much lately.
Worked my butt off and still am no where close to a finished truck.
I've also been helping my buddy get his S-10 a little further along.
Courtney Halowell from Street Trucks magazine and some of his NC gang stopped by the shop last night to shoot the chit.
Tony from Air Ride called Wednesday to apologize for not making it to the THW this year (one of their drivers quit on them).
That boy always has an excuse, I don't think he can handle the weather down here anymore.
As far as the show itself......I'm with you Ken. I'll head to the show for a few hours then back here to the pool and take a nap.
Heat makes me sleepy, so dose the cold.......so does work......and typing.......OK!....I'm going to take a nap now.

I put some chrome inner escalade handles on the Tahoe. Scored them for $64/shipped on Ebay for all 4, list price is around $40/handle. Thanks to the wife.

I wanted to ask the same thing, but I didn't want to wake him.
I'd be interested in seeing more progress pics of his raised bed floor.

I need to move to Texas......nice weather, carshows, lakes, carshows and carshows.

Friday I got some 17" 2005 Caddy Escalade Wheels for my 1996 "work truck" They were cheaper than new 16" tires and I got new tires and wheels for $350.00

I washed my effing disgusting truck inside and out. it took 2 and a half hours, and i still coulda done mroe cleaning.

the thing is, its been getting to the point where I am taking paint off more than dirt off.....

but i guess its better to wash it and keep it from crusting and rusting.

Picked myself up a 6.2 diesel to swap into my K5. Sure was a lengthy process, even with the tranny and front clip off.

Got my oil pan repainted and put on, and will attempt to install the drivetrain back in the chassis on Sunday.

Saturday was wasted at work and a birthday part afterwards.

Friday, went and saw Mr and Mrs Smith after work.

Installed inside hood release for hood so no one can open the hood from the ourside anymore on my '70 Burb. I am talking about the five finger discount people. Works great. Take some pictures at the "Heatwave Car Show".

Put a receptical by my beagle pen so they could have a fan. Still working on the 12 bolt rearend for the Chevelle right now. I've got the new ring gear on the Eaton posi but I need to press the pinion bearing off and add a shim so it won't be quite so high in the gear.

Went and purchased all the a/c parts needed, compressor, accumulator, and hoses. So it looks like this week will be spent taking off the old and putting on the new.

Aaah Frank I really expected you to roll it out this year. To bad you didn't since there really wasn't much to look at in the 73-87 catagory. I agree with Scoti, post some update pics, then have another nap....

I spent Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon at an acquaintance's lakehouse on Medina Lake. I wish I knew him well enough to be invited more than once a year.

I spent Sunday evening at a friend's 4 year old's birthday party. She kept asking "Is it time to open gifts yet?" and "Can we eat cake now?" I had to laugh becauseI was thinking the same thing...

I spent Monday showing a nice guy from England around San Antonio. He kept mentioning that my shortbed Chevy was "enormous." I don't thing he believed me when I told him that it was the SMALLEST version of the truck, and that there were much bigger options available. He invited my wife and I to visit him at hs house in Holland, where he is living now. Too bad we'll never be able to afford to go.
