Question Truck Is running like crap

well i finish intalling the head gasket on my 305, after finishing i ran the truck and it ran good for the 1st 3 miles and then it started running very ruff, I thought it was the timing but the timing is good, I double check distributor and its also good, i placed piston #1 top dead center and checked the distributor and its pointing to piston #1, do i need to rotate the distrubutor again, and line it up again. Im lost right now dont know my next move, please help.

I think I would double check the valves (too tight or too looses) and check the head bolts (may need to re-tourque). As for the dizzy, do you have a computer on the vehicle? If you do, I think the timming is controlled by that, cannot adjust without a special plug for the computer. If not, the rotor should be pointing to the #1 lug on the dizzy, not the actual #1 piston in the block. Hope this helped.

Thanks for the response Nolowrider, I tourque all the bolts to spec from the heads to the intake manifold, Heads Torque to: 65 ft-lbs, manifold to: 30 ft-lbs. There is no computer on the truck. right before putting all back i made sure that the timing was set correctly and it is pointing to the #1 lug instead of the #1 piston. The Valves looked good when i reinstalled the heads. I was told that it could be my fuel injected carb, but i never missed with it, when i replaced the heads, Is there anything that can go wrong with the carb if i took it off?

You say the valves looked good. Did you take the head off and re-install it without adjusting the valves? That is a no-no, you should adjust the valves when you do work like this.

Could be bent push rod 1 or more , did you check distributor cap for chip or crack , heaven forbid flat lobe on camshaft.
