Tail Light Fuse????????????
Hi,
I have a 71 Chevy LWB, that blows the tail light fuse every time I step on the brake pedal. The tail lights work fine, until the brake pedal is applied, then the fuse blows. Any idea or suggestions on where I should start? Thanks. |

Does it do that when you use the turn signals too? If not try replacing the switch on the brake pedal that makes the brake lights come on. My .02 Randy

b-4 buying a switch get under the truck and inspect the wiring running down the drivers side framerail ,especially the areas of wire that are secured by clips to the frame . it's pretty common that the whole length of wiring is all cracked and dryrotted and shorting out on the frame

Mine did the same thing. Turned out to be the wiring that travels down the frame rail was in contact with the exhaust pipe and had melted the insulation on the wire for the brake circuit. Moved it and taped it and secured it and have had no further problems in 3 years. Oh by the way I found it after tearing my steering column apart. Steve

Try the turn signals... if one of them pops the fuse, then that'll narrow it down as to what wire you'd be looking at.
