my dogs keep chewing my truck wireing from the underside

ok my dog has chewed threw the wiring for my tank switch and anything else that hangs low enough plus my fuel line. im wondering what suggestions i could get to solve this problem without getting rid of the dogs and not moving my truck out of the fenced in part of my yard. i was thinking of goin with stainless braided hose to replace the rubber hoses but then again ive thought about just getting rid of the switch and having it draw from both tanks. what should i do? any help would be greatly appreciated

hmm none of that stuff should be exposed w/ the stock shields and stuff, am I wrong?.. seems like you could tuck that stuff real tight along the frame rails and the dog wouldnt be able to get to it... or you could do like grampa used to do and pull the dog under the truck and beat him so he's forever scared of that spot :-)

Get an old extension cord and hang it under your frame and plug the damn thing in.
Once they get a bite of a real wire, they on't be biting on your truck anymore.

what about tacking up some chicken wire or something along that line under there? or some kind of sheld to cover the wires. but like said befor. you should beable to tuck them up to the frame some how. mabe by adding some lanth of wire to reach or something. mabe for the wires, a wire loom? just some idea. if it was me I would try some kind of sheld. and try to ge the gas line to the frame.

Take A Fake Wire And Let It Hang Dowm Coat It With Tobacco Sauce, He Will Leave It Alone. Also Tie A Little Strip Of A Rag On The Wire With Tobacco On It. He Wont Play With Any More Wire.

First thing I thought about was, do you own a gun?? But the other ideas are probably a better answer. As for drawing from both tanks, you'd have to keep gas in both, and once one goes empty it'll draw air and run out of gas. Plus you'd lose the fuel gage function between tanks. The switch is the only easy way to keep using both tanks, unless you went to a manual switch like the older 67-72 trucks had.

wow, i cant believe how incredibly cruel and insensitive some of these replies have been towards animals. i hope to god none of you are pet owners. i own two pitbulls and two french mastiffs. if they are chewing on something they are not supposed to, then they probably werent trained right by their owner.

Owning animals carries some responsibility, but having come from a farm community, I stand by the fact that when an animal is destructive then it needs a strong lesson. Owning fighting dogs is no different than owning a large herd of cattle, when the dog is out of hand you have to control it. The gentleman with the truck could just put a line of bare wire underneath his truck that is connected to an electric fencer--a couple of sharp snaps from one of those will wake the poochie up and convice him to go chew on the lawn furniture. Your professional trainers use something of the same to train dogs, but it is in the collar. If all fails put the wife outside and move the dog in.

I treid that with my husky. on my neffiues pacifier. cus he keep eating them.

The tobasco way worked for me. My German sheperd was constantly chewing up stuff especially shoes. I had finally had enough, so from then on when he chewed on my shoes he got a teaspoon of it put in his mouth and it only took about 3 times and he quit and he will not chew on anything now unless you give it to him. Kind of reminded me of the old soap trick mom used to use.

Make a past of red peper and water coat the wires with this, if this does not stop him then nothing will except some kind of metal covers.

lighten up a little. i've got 2 border collies, and neither one of them go anywhere near whatever is sitting in front of the garage (my garage is inside our fenced back yard)
