Moving - Martinsburg WV - Winchester VA?

Just found out we're moving back east - wife has accepted a teaching job near Martinsburg WV. Don't know anything about the area. Martinsburg WV isn't far to the north were she'll be teaching, and Winchester VA is to the south.

West Virginia panhandle area.

Can anyone give me any information? Hoping there are a few fellow 67-72 truck nuts in the area!

TIA!

yeah, Front Royal ,where Athey's truck parts is, is not more than a half hour from there. I've been through Winchester and Martinsburg many times, but can't tell you much about either. My sister in law used to teach at Shepherd College, I'm thinking that is in Martinsburg.

Wow - thanks guys! I'm looking for the usual - good areas to live, areas to be careful, housing, utilities, internet access (VERY IMPORTANT). Good places to eat, etc, etc,..

Any all info is helpful. I'm still a little stunned I'm leaving Jackson Hole Wyoming. Never lived any further east than right here. Grew up in San Fran, and Seattle.

Pics would be awesome - having a hard time finding any on the web for some reason. Or websites about the area.

You can find good housing in the Inwood, Bunker Hill and Gerradstown areas. There is plenty in Martinsburg proper also but most (not all) of that is a bit older.

There is plenty of stuff around Charles Town, but I don't know what you consider a commute (I drive 63 miles one way to work, so I sometimes consider things "around the block" when others go WHOA!)

You can find most of the usualy crud you need when moving here: http://www.martinsburg.com/ and here http://www.westvirginia.com/

Jst for giggles.. here are the homes for sale in my zip code (one of about 5 that apply in the panhandle area)

There are a number of restruants around the Mall in Martinsburg. Kobe is an awesome Japanese steakhouse. The usual Ruby Tuesdays, Outback, Applebees ets. are also around.

Winchester is loaded with restruants also and has large mall.
