I am going to be making my first attempt at installing a deck soon, and I was wondering if any of you have any tips on how to make the task easier.

mym dad did a cassette deck in our dually, but i've done a couple on my moms camaro. Disconnect the battery (duh), and if you buy at crutchfield you'll get a compete vehicle specific install kit (comes in very handy) that includes the adapters. Most of the time, the wires are labeled, but if not, the manual tells you. It's pretty straight forward, but you might have a hard time getting at the stock radio and the wiring.

yeah, the stock radio comes out from the back. be carefull when taking it out. theres alot of wires and things that can be banged around that shouldent. for me it was a pain in the arse and took me atleast an hour and a half. but then again my radio wasent stock and I have ac so theres alot more stuff there. you also have to cut a hole out for the radio. measure 4 times and cut many times. cut smaller and widen where needed. I would also try to cut it so that you can fold back the flanges*sp?* incase you sell it and the new owner wants to put a stock radio in. for me there was only 4 wires. 2 were speakers and the other 2 were ground *black* and the other was ignition hot wire. I had to run a wire that gave constent hot. I just ran it to the battery. if I had the time I would have chose a diferent place. it was my first time too. also make sure when you cut the bezel measure many times and use the right tools. good luck! p.s. if your kit comes with a pice of straping. Use it! find a place to mount it. that thing saved my radio from being riped out. they got my cage out but they couldent get my radio out because of the strap was bolted. if it doesent have one find one. my stock radio had one and I used that one.

i just rewired my hole truck because the facotory speaker wires wouldnt cut it and i redid it so i can make it look clean in the dash when u pull it out
