Question Putting the side moulding on my truck???

Hi.I like the look of the side moulding for 60-66 trucks. My truck is a 66' and has no mouldings. As far as I know, there are metal or plastic clips that are inserted in the body panels. My question is, "How do I prepare the body panels for moulding installation?"Also, what tools are used to make holes for the clips? Is there any other method such as some type of glue to attach the moulding?
Thanks for your time,
Anthony

in my opinion if there are no holes in your truck for trim, i'd use adhesives to put the trim on. that's how all the trucks today have it. if there's a screw that's supposed to show, i'd grind it down to the head and glue the head in the hole and not actually put a hole in the truck for it.

Get a copy of the assembly manual, it has measurements for drilling all the mounting holes for attaching trim. Brian

New trucks have moulding intended to be held on by adhesive. The older truck moulding is hollow on the back and doesn't lend itself well to gluing or taping on.

Fleetside is right on base, the manual will walk you through it.

Molding install

This may help with general information about the moldings and clips. http://www.mar-k.com/Moulding_Clips_install.pdf I think if you do not have adhesive clips that are designed for the moldings they may not stay on. With the correct clips, the moldings will stay on. Be sure the holes you drill are the right size.
