67-72 exhaust options?

Looking for a true dual exhaust setup for my 69 c-10. Quickly checked out flowmaster / dynomax with no luck.

What are most people here using? Thanks.

Kits - LMC I have heard, but I have heard there has been some fit issues also

Personally I went to a custom muffler shop for mine, It cost more of course

*Pic's of mine on the linky in my signature, pages 15-18 I think, Stainless Steel
mufflers on mine, 2.5" aluminized pipe, and NO it was not cheap, but worth it

I also went to an exhaust shop and for $100 Bucks I got dual straights put on my 71. That included pipe, bends, and all the welds. I gotta say though my truck is way hella loud and It's almost too loud. I'm gonna put flowmasters on it this winter.

I got duals put in at a shop to for about $350, including turbos.

Heres mine on my 65 short bed done for about 125.00 with mufflers. and 225.00 with headers. 2 1/2" into 40 series flows under bed.

Dynomax turbos on 2" aluminized pipe. Sounds great, but not too loud. $375 at local custom shop, lifetime warranty.

Dynamax Turbos with 2 1/2 exhaust and 2 1/4 cross over pipe. Behind the axle we went with 3" exhaust (just for looks). With out the mufflers the shop charged me $220.

I have the LMC kit on my truck with the turbos. Not too happy with it. The fit was very poor. Who knows, I may have installed it wrong, but my turbo's are crammed somewhat sideways between the driveshaft and trailing arms and my tailpipes are at an odd angle. The pipes also have about 1/2" clearance between the driveshaft and where the trailing arms come together at the crossmember. The pipes kept shifting and rubbing the driveshaft when I hit a bump. Finally got it tight enough so they stayed put. I tried many configurations with it on my garage floor, and the pipes only fit together the way I installed them. It works, but it ain't purty. The pipe off the manifolds fits well, but I think I'm gonna have a shop go in and redo it from the cab back with some flowmasters. Note: I think the kit would fit better with the glass pack kit (mufflers are smaller and round) or I think it would fit very well with a leaf spring rear-end. My $0.02.

I must say, I don't know much about kits, but if they work how they are supposed to they should be awesome. If it fits, installs easy and has the right exit angle/position you prefer, they seem like a good deal.

However, from experience it seems like for around the same price (around, being a loose term), you can go to a custom shop and get it done EXACTLY how you want. For example, I went in to a local shop, told the guy exactly where I want the bends, the welds, the clamps and he even gave me a piece of pipe so I could show him at what angle I wanted the exits.

Let me tell you, I was amazed, I was sort of expecting a little variation (nobody's perfect), but when I saw it, it was perfect, exactly how it looked in my head...all for $330 canadian too! it's

Id like to buy a pre-bent kit with pipes that exit right underneath the rear bumper when i get a pick up, which will be never at the rate things are going. A 2 1/2 or 3 inch exhaust would be good. I could probably get the bends, pipes, clamps and a Sawzall all and do it all in the garage, couldn't I? And then put stainless tips on each side straight out the back.
Thats just my taste of good looks kicking in

I bought the LMC kit for my long wheel base, sbc, 4x4. It fit like a glove. I put it on a good 4 or 5 years ago. I stuck a new engine in front of it last year. I'd buy another kit in a second from them.

there was a thread started about these guys the other day. DON'T do business with them! 88.3% feedback should be a STRONG indication!

Since the search is down, I'll repeat what I've posted before. The kits LMC sells are made by http://www.heartthrobexhaustinc.com/ in Minn.

I haven't purchased one, so I can't speak the the fitment. Otherwise, three good reasons to use it:
1. You're running stock Rams Horn manifolds.
2. Mandrel bent pipes for unobstructed flow.
3. Low cost.

Drawback:
A. No H-pipe/X-pipe.
B. Poor mufflers (if purchased thru LMC).

I called Heartthrob and priced a dual kit, minus mufflers, for my '71 K10 burb: $136 + shipping. Compare with LMC. If you go direct to Heartthrob, be sure you get all the clamps and brackets as LMC sells the kits.

and remember, the LMC or anyone else's kit, is for STOCK applications. it will not fit on a lowered chassis or if your engine is in anything but the stock location. I personally feel its bets to have a shop bend some pipes to fit & use whatever muffs you like.
having said that I have Heddman headers, 2 1/2s, 12" packs (she barks nicely), and exits behind the bumper. oh, did I mention how mine is run outside the frame behind the cab for suspension clearance?

The best bet is find a GOOD exhaust shop. They can often custom bend for your application for less then one of the kits you buy from the suppliers. Final fit is often much better as well.

don't know where po got this from, but i traded some electrical work for these, not the headers, just the pipes and clamps..ect

I am a believer that a rear leaf truck can use 73> exhaust but I have no proof.

i personally did mine myself. Bought headers and put 2.5 inch straight into turbos and nuthing after, sounds nice. lot of work but a lot cheaper.

I have used 2 kits from LMC. 350 / auto / 4x4 and it fit like a glove. I got the second system for my 67 250-6/3spd/2wd and it fit absolutely perfect! I wouldn't think twice on the third set up. If you happen to go to heartthrob you can also get the same systems in stainless. FYI..They just happen to be 30 miles west of my place.
