Looks like alot of work. I can't believe it says it's a California truck. I didn't think they used road salt out there. I'll bet the rubber floor mat is hiding some serious cancer. If you're considering bidding on this truck I'd think twice 'cause you should be able to find a relatively rust free pickup in the southwest.

Well, it is one of 1404 built, and as far as a mid westerner would say, it is pretty clean.
But it's a rust bucket by south western standards.

Hmmm, its got some good rust. But Ive seen worse. If your good at body work and replace your own patch panels it would be a good deal at $1500

"The body and paint are original..." Except for the first image you can see the original color surrounding the emblems where the grease ":masking" took place when Earl Scheib shot it brown... And on the door sticker there's overspray. Rustbucket indeed, probably came from an M state. No offence to you Maine-ers Michigan -ers and Minnesota-ers. Rare, but a major rusto, I mean resto project.
Didn't know they made a single rear wheel C30 but they did. Just not many!

My dial-up is too slow to download the pics but I can tell you that years ago, no road salt was used anywhere on the west coast . Sadly, salt has been used extensively in Calif for several years now. And a few years back, they started spraying an anti-icing agent, which works but is said to be even more corrosive than salt .

The cab floor looks bad and there is probably more rust hiding in other places, but I also see parts that are way, way in excess of $1200 on display there, heck -- the bench alone could nab better than half that.

If the price doesn't leap up in 2 days.... I would throw a few $$s at it.

1. Tires are weather-checked bad
2. New Valve covers on old looking motor?
3. White overspray on door post?
4. Serious heat cracks in column sleeve & steering wheel
5. Brake control & farmers bumper = she's done some pullin'
6. 2 Holes in the side of AC Box
7. Underside looks clean = trans not leaking
8. Big coolant tank w/no cap & is that a bungee cord holding it?
9. Rip in drivers door panel
10. Ding in top edge of grill trim
11. No mirror glass pass side
12. Mirror heads do not match 1 chrome, 1 white
13. Windshield is milky at bottom edge, been sitting in sun long time??
14. Where is the bed trim?
15. 1st pic is oxidized paint around the emblem the lot boy can't buff out.
16. Drivers door either sags or striker plate out of wack.

Might have been in Cali all it's life, but my guess would be parked somewhere near the ocean and salty air and pulling a boat once in a while. Buyer beware of the floor /door / rockers.

That stuff is WAY worse than salt. The molicules are smaller...small enough to end up under rivit heads.
On top of that, it does damage when salt is done eating your metal. The brine will continue to corrode your metals as long as it is there and the humidity is over 40%. With normal salt, once it is dry, the dangers of corrosion are all but over with.
Look on the big over the road trucks, on the ones that are 5 years old, you'll see the paint blistering around the rivits... you'll see LOTS of electrical tape, air tanks with bubbling powder coating underneath...frames that look like the tanks...
This is REAL bad stuff.

Looks like a good project. Those 16.5x9.75 8 lug wheels are a b!$#% to find, and it's got 'em on all fours! Wonder what kind of tires those are?

I think its not a bad truck at all.

-1 Ton
-Longbox
-Air
-Power Brakes

The canopy & seat cover gotta go IMO. The main issues I would be concerned with are

-Is The Frame straight
-Does it burn lots of oil
-Tranny/Rear End
-Brakes

For around $1200 US I'd have a go at it, if I was looking for a "drivable project". Doug

There are quite a few places in California with salt air near the coast so that may explain the rust.

I have said this from the beginning, California is not necessarily a rust free state. We have almost any kind of environment you want. We are something like 900 miles North to South and 400 miles East to West with dry deserts to salty oceans. We have the highest and lowest elevations in the Continental US. Also we used to use salt on the roads. I can remember the big stink about the salt killing the trees on Highway 50 between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. The better part of CA could be considered rust free but not the way Chevrolet manufacturered trucks. Oh and most of the vehicles in CA are parked outdoors and not covered. OK I will get down from the soapbox (which was not coined in CA).

I know what ya mean man. SC isn't exactly a "rust free" state either. If the truck was garaged or at least taken care of (who actually "took care of" their truck back in 67?) it could be rust free, but a lot of trucks have rocker/cab corner rot. We are better than most places, but not great. I wouldn't even consider buying a truck from the coast. Them suckers get rusty in places you wouldnt think possible....

I don't see anything wrong with getting the truck if the price stays low. I'd contact the owner and get some better pics and ask lots of questions. I think I would take a lot to be a "show truck" but it would make a cool driver.

My truck had no rust issues anywhere until the beginning of 1990 when it spent 3½ yrs in the southern Puget Sound area of Washington & then 3½ more yrs in the KC area. Prior to that & since then its been in Colorado. It accumulated 10x more rust in those 7 yrs than the other 27. In fact most of it came from the 3½ yrs in Washington. The rockers virtually disappeared. It was unbelievable!

Nobody has pointed out this thing has a GM crate engine in it either, that's $1300 right there.

I was just thinking "man if that tailgate was pulled when new it'd be worth mint now"... As a man who could use a nice clean and straight tailgate, that's something I thought right away.

My problem with the crate enging ething is, why didn't he bolt accessories back on in original configuration? Where's the A/C compressor? If he hacked up the accessory locations, what else was done half-way or not done at all? I'd guess that the wiring on this truck would be scary. That being said, I'd give $1500 for a truck that clean, but that's probably the top end.
