In one respect: the more throttle you give the less vacuum you have. Therefore if you are driving on the highway and are able to reduce the throrrle and maintain your speed you should get better gas mileage. There are other reasons but I will leave them to other members with much more knowledge.

Vacuum guages are...cool! They fill up that empty spot on your dash.
