Question Cowl to hood seal question

Got the cowl hood spotted in, re-cleared, polished, installed and adjusted but the rubber seal at the cowl panel which is shaped like an "L" interferes with the hood when shut so I removed it. Is there a seal shaped more like a "C" that won't interfere with the hood when shut? Also, is this seal really needed?

Almost done color sanding and polishing the whole truck and man it's looking real nice....
