Tow Hooks Bolts
I'm assuming no matter which set you own, 67/68, 69-72, or 72 Only Extreme Bend
that the bolts are the same, and the frame thickness is the same, my set of newly aquired 72 Only Extreme Bend Tow Hooks have no bolts, at least I think they don't, they will be here this week, my question is what size / length bolts do I need? And do you use flat / lock washers with them? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks Also, could I use SS bolts w/ them, I realize they are not as strong, but aren't SS bolts at least a grade 3 or 5, that should be fine for everyday / show usage, right?

The ones i GOT OFF A 68 IN A SALVAGE YARD WERE 2.5 INCHES LONG. Not including the head of the bolt. There was also a lock washers and a spacer/washer. I still have the original bolts but they are extremely rusty. I got them off without breaking them.

The 72 only "extreme bend" hooks you are getting have the original bolts, washers and nuts. I spent 2 days laying in the snow soaking everything in "liquid wrench" and working the nuts back and forth until they came off.
Stainless would be nice on freshly powder coated hooks |

Man I wish, been looking for this set for almost 8 months, I run across 67/68 and 69-72 sets all the time, even away from here, but It was the only set I have found, I tried to buy JAYSHY's up above me in this thread, offered him a set of 67/68 + $200 and he wouldn't bite, TEEITUP might be selling out, he has 1 set, he might sell them, then again he might not, depends on your offer.

72 only hooks
Does any one know how rear these 72 only style tow hooks are.
Could you compare them to a factory tach dash or maybe a factory floor shift tilt column. Everyone says they are rare and I would like to know just how rare they are and what to compare them to. Jason |

Rare Hooks?
jay shy,
I was talking with GMC Paul at the Carlisle truck show this past weekend and he was saying that the 'extreem bend' type hooks were a factory special order that came on mostly "emergency service vehicles", such as Firetrucks, Fieldpieces, Municiple trucks and so forth. Paul knows his s%i7, so there's probably a lot of truth to this. 72longbed |
