Got my new project started....71 Chevy truck

Well I bought a 1969 Chevy truck on Saturday....or did I. I got it home and it only has a 69 front end on it. It is really a 1971 chevy. Anyway, the guy I got it from could not get it started....I started fixing the battery connections, then the alternator bracket, then the shifter was reall loose, and 10 other things that my wife could have fixed, then I decided to just try and start it. I realized I did not have a key for it, so I popped the key lock out and used the universal key(screwdriver) and tryed to fire it up. It rolled over a few times then fired to live. After sitting for 18 months with gas in the tank and old fuel fowled plugs I got it to fire up. It sounded great!!!! But I had water leaking from behind the starter!!!! Some Dumba$$ used a screw driver or something like it to hit the starter to try and get it to crank(I assume) because there is a small hole in the freeze plug. Talk about glad it was only the freeze plug and not the block or head. So to the parts store tomarrow to get the stuff I need. Might make the track on Saturday night!!!!
