Need help removing front clip - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Im getting ready to start on the front end of my truck and was wondering what the easiest way to remove the front clip was. I know there was a thread on this a while ago but I couldnt find it with the new search.Thanks in advance.

Your a funny guy Pickemup. I know there is a way to remove the whole thing with like 6 bolts or something and I dont want to remove more than I have to since it all fits together pretty good right now.

It's been a few years since I have done this... but If i remember right;
2 large bolts under the rad support
2 bolts at the bottom of the fenders by the front bottom corner of the doors (one per side)
remove the wiper arms and the cowl, and there's a couple bolts in there
Maybe one accessed through the door jamb...but not sure on this.
Drivers side fenderwell....piece that bridges around the steering shaft.
Inside fenderwells on both sides, larger bolt going up into cab/firewall

Make sure to note how many shims are at each bolt location.

Remove battery(s), rad, disconnnect harness at fuse box bulk head. Might be more....but nothing off the top of my head

Sucker a couple ppl with strong backs and weak minds to do all your lifting for you. make sure hood is shut when moving it around.

Thanks Longhornman. Since i only had one guy to help me today I decided to take it apart piece by piece. Heres how she looks now. It only took a few hours.

Looks good now that you have it apart do you know the bolts long horn was toking about to get it off in one piece?

may I ask why you are removing your front clip? Your avatar pic looked pretty good.

I recently put on a rear coilover kit and decided while I had the bed off I may as well sand down and paint the frame. I am now getting ready to put on my IFS kit and new engine so I figure I may as well sand and paint the front of the frame too. Thought this would be alot easier with the front clip gone.
